We can handle the entire process on your behalf—even if you are abroad
A certificate of single status is an official document issued by Panama’s Electoral Tribunal confirming a person’s civil status. It may be required abroad for marriage, immigration and residency applications, civil unions, or other legal and administrative proceedings.
If you are outside Panama or unable to complete the process personally, we can obtain, authenticate, apostille, officially translate, and internationally ship the certificate on your behalf, subject to the requirements of the destination country.
📄 Obtaining the Certificate of Single Status
We can obtain the certificate in your name or on your behalf. A notarized authorization is generally required to allow us to complete the necessary procedures before Panama’s Civil Registry and Electoral Tribunal.
If you are abroad, we can provide guidance regarding the possibility of granting the authorization remotely through a video call before a notary public in Panama City, subject to the notary’s availability and applicable requirements.
To begin the process, we will generally require:
- A copy of your valid passport.
- A copy of your Panamanian personal identity card, if applicable.
- A copy of any previous birth certificate or certificate of single status, if available.
- Information about the country and institution where the document will be submitted.
- A notarized authorization allowing us to act on your behalf, when required.
✅ Authentication by the Electoral Tribunal of Panama
Once the certificate has been issued, we can arrange for its authentication by the Electoral Tribunal of Panama. This procedure verifies the signature of the official who issued the document and is generally required before the apostille can be obtained.
We can also arrange the authentication of Panamanian birth, marriage, and death certificates, as well as other Civil Registry documents.
🌐 Apostille by the Panamanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
After authentication, we process the apostille through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama.
An apostille certifies the authenticity of the signature and the official capacity of the person who signed the document. It allows the certificate to be recognized in another country that is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention.
If the destination country does not accept apostilles, we can provide guidance regarding the applicable consular legalization procedure.
🖋️ Official translation from Spanish into a foreign language
Once the document has been apostilled, we arrange for its official translation from Spanish into a foreign language by a public translator authorized in the Republic of Panama.
The translation may include:
- The certificate of single status.
- The authentication issued by the Electoral Tribunal of Panama.
- The apostille issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama.
- All relevant seals, signatures, annotations, and other elements appearing on the document.
We also provide official English-to-Spanish translations and translations of birth, marriage, divorce, and death certificates, police records, and other legal and administrative documents.
✈️ International Delivery of the Documents
Once the process has been completed, we can send the physical documents to the requested country through an international courier service.
The client will receive the authenticated and apostilled certificate together with its official translation, ready to be submitted to the relevant authority, subject to that institution’s particular requirements.
